Product Certification and Compliance Requirements
Standards Compliance: Products may need to meet mandatory Chilean standards or equivalent international standards. These are enforced by INN and sector-specific regulators.
Conformity Assessment: Regulated products may require certification, testing, or inspection prior to sale. This is particularly relevant for electronics, telecommunications, health-related products, and food.
Type Approval for Telecom Equipment: All wireless and radio frequency devices must be type-approved by SUBTEL. Approval confirms the device meets technical and safety standards.
Electrical Safety Certification: Products such as lighting, household appliances, and power tools must be certified by SEC to confirm compliance with safety regulations.
Labeling Requirements: Products must have labels in Spanish, including key information such as product name, manufacturer/importer details, safety warnings, instructions, lot number, expiration date (if applicable), and country of origin.
Food and Pharma Registration: Packaged food, supplements, cosmetics, and pharmaceutical products must be registered with SAG or ISP, depending on the product category.
Customs Clearance and Market Surveillance: Authorities verify certification at the point of import and conduct in-market inspections to enforce ongoing compliance.
