Product Certification and Compliance Requirements
Conformity Assessment: Manufacturers are responsible for carrying out conformity assessments to ensure their products meet the applicable requirements. This process includes setting up a technical file, issuing the EU declaration of conformity, and affixing the CE marking.
CE Marking: Products that fall under specific EU directives must bear the CE marking before they can be sold in Bulgaria or other EU member states. This marking indicates that the product complies with EU safety, health, and environmental protection requirements.
Labeling and Marking Requirements: Labels must include information such as product type, list of ingredients (including allergens), net quantity, expiration date, storage conditions, and the name and address of the manufacturer or importer. Labels should be in Bulgarian and comply with EU and national regulations.
Market Surveillance: Bulgaria follows a decentralized model of market surveillance, with various authorities responsible for different sectors. These authorities monitor products on the market to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
