Nicaragua operates a developing product compliance framework focused on public health, technical regulation, and import control. The system includes mandatory registration for certain goods, acceptance of international standards (ISO, Codex, IEC), and limited local conformity assessment capacity. Oversight is strongest in the areas of pharmaceuticals, food safety, and telecom equipment.
Key Authorities:
Instituto de Normas Técnicas de Nicaragua (INN) – Develops Nicaraguan Technical Standards (NTN) and coordinates standardization and conformity assessment.
Ministerio de Salud (MINSA) – Regulates pharmaceuticals, food products, cosmetics, and medical devices, including product registration and health licensing.
Instituto Nicaragüense de Telecomunicaciones y Correos (TELCOR) – Manages type approval, RF regulation, and telecom equipment licensing.
Dirección General de Servicios Aduaneros (DGA) – Customs authority that verifies documentation and enforces import compliance requirements.
Key Compliance Elements:
Standards and Certification:
Nicaragua adopts and develops NTN standards based on international norms (ISO, Codex).
There is no national conformity mark, but certain goods (e.g., electrical items, food) may require inspection or testing at entry.
Voluntary and mandatory standards are published by INN and may apply depending on the product category.
Product Registration (MINSA):
Required for:
Medicines and vaccines
Medical devices
Food supplements and processed foods
Cosmetics
Registration process includes:
Dossier with technical and safety documentation
Certificate of free sale or GMP from the origin country
Labeling in Spanish
Importer/distributor license
Telecom Type Approval (TELCOR):
All RF and telecom devices must be type approved.
CE/FCC reports are accepted to support applications, but local registration is mandatory before use or importation.
TELCOR issues certificates that must be presented to customs.
Labeling Requirements:
Labels must be in Spanish, and include:
Product name
Manufacturer/importer name and contact
Country of origin
Instructions for use and safety warnings
Expiry date or lot number (if applicable)
MINSA or TELCOR registration number (if regulated)
Import Oversight:
Customs (DGA) requires:
Invoice and packing list
Certificate of origin
Product registration or type approval certificate (if applicable)
Sanitary or safety inspection clearance for regulated goods
Market Surveillance:
Conducted by MINSA, TELCOR, and DGA, with inspections focused on health products, food, and telecom equipment. Non-compliant goods may be denied entry or withdrawn from sale.

Nigeria 6 GHz Band: NCC Draft Opens Wi-Fi 6E (5925–6425)
Nigeria's NCC has issued draft guidelines opening the lower Nigeria 6 GHz band (5925–6425 MHz) for license-exempt WLAN use — the spectrum foundation for Wi-Fi 6E. The framework is not yet final: it went to public inquiry on 19–20 January 2026 ahead of approval. Every 6 GHz-capable device must secure NCC type approval before importation, sale, or deployment. This article sets out the verified scope, certification impact, timeline, and actions to take now.

Thailand Drone Regulations: NBTC Spectrum & BVLOS Update
Thailand's NBTC has opened a public consultation on four draft notifications that would reshape Thailand drone regulations for spectrum, technical standards and oversight. The package adds unlicensed bands at 72-72.475 MHz and 920-925 MHz, unlocks BVLOS control over mobile and satellite networks, expands anti-collision radar bands, and introduces a mandatory Remote ID. The drafts are proposed, not enacted; comments close 3 July 2026. Manufacturers should assess certification impacts now.

ANATEL Act 14158: Brazil's New 5 GHz & RF Limits
Brazil's ANATEL Act 14158 overhauls the technical requirements for restricted-radiation radiocommunication equipment, tightening 5 GHz power and spectral-density limits and updating laboratory test procedures. Contrary to some briefs describing a phased rollout, the whole act — including the 5 GHz (5,150–5,250 MHz) Wi-Fi rules — has been mandatory since 6 April 2026. This guide covers what changed, the certification impact, and the actions manufacturers must take to keep Brazilian market access.

KBLI 2025 SDPPI Certification: Indonesia's June Deadline
As of 18 June 2026, Indonesia's 2025 KBLI business-classification system is mandatory for every entity using the OSS portal, and it now drives the KBLI 2025 SDPPI certification process. A valid PB-UMKU licence is needed to open a DJID/SDPPI certification ticket, and a PB-UMKU cannot be created on outdated KBLI 2020 codes. If your local importer or certificate holder has not migrated, your type-approval filings can be blocked. Here is what changed and the steps to keep applications moving.

IMDA TS RG-SEC Issue 2: Singapore Router Security Update
Singapore's IMDA has issued IMDA TS RG-SEC Issue 2, the technical specification raising mandatory security for residential gateways (home Wi-Fi routers, fibre modems, broadband hubs) from Cybersecurity Labelling Scheme (CLS) Level 1 to Level 2. The spec was published in June 2026 and references CLS for IoT Publication No. 4A. Full CLS Level 2 enforcement is targeted for end 2027 and remains subject to industry consultation. Here is what manufacturers, importers and RA teams need to prepare.

India BIS Series Guidelines for IS/IEC 62368-1:2023 (XR)
India's Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has published series guidelines under IS/IEC 62368-1:2023 for Extended Reality products. AR, VR and MR devices must form separate series, and up to 10 models may be grouped into a single series — covered by one lead-model test report — if they share the same energy source, construction class, enclosure, PCB layout, display type and IP rating. Battery devices must have the lead model tested at the highest battery capacity.
