1. Egyptian Organization for Standardization and Quality (EOS)

EOS is Egypt’s national standards body. It develops mandatory and voluntary standards, coordinates technical committees, and supervises conformity with national norms across industries.

2. General Organization for Export and Import Control (GOEIC)

GOEIC is the main authority overseeing inspection and certification of imported and exported goods. It ensures that imported products meet Egyptian standards and technical regulations before entering the market.

3. National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA)

NTRA is responsible for regulating telecom and wireless equipment. It manages type approval, spectrum licensing, and ensures compliance with technical requirements for radiofrequency devices.

4. Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA)

EDA regulates pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and medical devices. It handles product registration, import licensing, and post-market monitoring for health-related products.

5. Ministry of Health and Population

This ministry oversees public health protection, including the safety and quality of food, water, hygiene products, and health supplements.

6. Ministry of Trade and Industry

Coordinates trade policies, issues product-specific import controls, and supports implementation of technical barriers to trade (TBT) in line with WTO principles.

Product Certification and Compliance Requirements

  • Standards Compliance: Products must comply with Egyptian standards developed by EOS. For regulated goods, compliance is mandatory and subject to inspection.

  • Conformity Assessment: Many products require third-party conformity assessment. This often includes testing and inspection conducted either in the country of origin (via approved bodies) or upon arrival in Egypt.

  • Certificate of Conformity (CoC): Certain product categories must be accompanied by a CoC confirming compliance with Egyptian technical standards. This is required at customs for clearance.

  • Product Registration: Health-related products—such as pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, food supplements, and medical devices—must be registered with EDA or the Ministry of Health before import and sale.

  • Type Approval for Telecom Equipment: Any device using radio frequency (e.g., mobile phones, routers, IoT) must be approved by NTRA before being marketed or used in Egypt.

  • Labeling Requirements: Products must be labeled in Arabic and include product name, brand, country of origin, net content, usage instructions, safety warnings, production and expiration dates, and importer details.

  • Customs Clearance and Import Documentation: Required documents may include commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, product registration certificates, and conformity certificates. GOEIC conducts inspections at ports of entry.

  • Market Surveillance: Post-market surveillance is carried out to ensure continued compliance. Non-compliant or dangerous products may be confiscated, recalled, or banned.

KBLI 2025 SDPPI Certification: Indonesia's June Deadline
As of 18 June 2026, Indonesia's 2025 KBLI business-classification system is mandatory for every entity using the OSS portal, and it now drives the KBLI 2025 SDPPI certification process. A valid PB-UMKU licence is needed to open a DJID/SDPPI certification ticket, and a PB-UMKU cannot be created on outdated KBLI 2020 codes. If your local importer or certificate holder has not migrated, your type-approval filings can be blocked. Here is what changed and the steps to keep applications moving.

India's Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has published series guidelines under IS/IEC 62368-1:2023 for Extended Reality products. AR, VR and MR devices must form separate series, and up to 10 models may be grouped into a single series — covered by one lead-model test report — if they share the same energy source, construction class, enclosure, PCB layout, display type and IP rating. Battery devices must have the lead model tested at the highest battery capacity.

Korea EV Charger KC Certification: 500 kVA Scope Expansion
South Korea's MOTIE, through standards body KATS, has pre-announced an amendment to the Enforcement Rules of the Electrical Appliances and Consumer Products Safety Control Act. The draft raises the rated-output ceiling for EV chargers under KC Safety Confirmation from 200 kVA to 500 kVA, closing the gap that kept 350 kW-plus ultra-fast chargers outside KC certification, procurement, and subsidy programs. It is at the public-comment stage, not yet enacted. What manufacturers should prepare.

Nigeria 6 GHz Wi-Fi 6E: NCC Opens Lower Band
Nigeria's regulator, the NCC, has moved to open the lower 6 GHz band (5925-6425 MHz) for license-exempt WLAN use, the spectrum foundation for Wi-Fi 6E. The framework is still a draft: it went through a public inquiry on 19-20 January 2026 ahead of final approval. Access is license-exempt but conditional, and every device must secure NCC type approval before importation, sale, or deployment. This guide covers the verified scope, certification impact, and the actions manufacturers should take now.
