1. State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR)

SAMR is the central authority responsible for market supervision, including product safety, quality inspection, labeling enforcement, and anti-counterfeit measures.

2. China National Certification and Accreditation Administration (CNCA)

CNCA oversees certification and accreditation activities across China. It manages the China Compulsory Certification (CCC) system and supervises designated testing laboratories and certification bodies.

3. General Administration of Customs of China (GACC)

GACC enforces customs inspection and clearance, including the verification of compliance documents, certifications, labeling, and quality standards for imports and exports.

4. Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT)

MIIT regulates telecommunications and electronic products, including the type approval process for wireless and radio frequency equipment.

5. National Medical Products Administration (NMPA)

NMPA regulates pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and cosmetics. It handles product registration, clinical evaluations, and post-market surveillance.

6. Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs

This ministry manages agricultural input products, food safety regulations related to animal and plant products, and sanitary/phytosanitary compliance.

Product Certification and Compliance Requirements

  • China Compulsory Certification (CCC): A wide range of products including electrical appliances, automotive parts, toys, and telecom devices require CCC marking before they can be sold or imported. This involves testing at designated Chinese laboratories and certification from authorized bodies.

  • Conformity Assessment and Testing: Many regulated products must undergo testing and certification by designated Chinese authorities or laboratories. Test reports from foreign labs are generally not accepted unless there are specific mutual recognition agreements.

  • Type Approval for Telecom and RF Devices: Products that use radio frequency, such as mobile phones, Wi-Fi equipment, and Bluetooth devices, must receive type approval through MIIT’s processes before import or sale.

  • Food and Drug Registration: All imported food, beverages, cosmetics, and health supplements must be registered with GACC or NMPA. Pharmaceutical and medical devices require prior approval and may need local clinical trial data.

  • Labeling Requirements: Products must have labels in Simplified Chinese, with accurate descriptions including product name, manufacturer/importer details, date of manufacture, expiration date, storage instructions, and applicable warnings or certifications.

  • Import Inspection and Customs Clearance: Products are subject to mandatory inspection at customs for labeling, documentation, and compliance with applicable standards. Non-conforming products may be denied entry.

  • Environmental and Safety Standards: Specific products must comply with China’s environmental policies, including RoHS-like hazardous substance restrictions, energy efficiency labeling, and recycling mandates.

Korea EV Charger KC Certification: 500 kVA Scope Expansion
South Korea's MOTIE, through standards body KATS, has pre-announced an amendment to the Enforcement Rules of the Electrical Appliances and Consumer Products Safety Control Act. The draft raises the rated-output ceiling for EV chargers under KC Safety Confirmation from 200 kVA to 500 kVA, closing the gap that kept 350 kW-plus ultra-fast chargers outside KC certification, procurement, and subsidy programs. It is at the public-comment stage, not yet enacted. What manufacturers should prepare.

Nigeria 6 GHz Wi-Fi 6E: NCC Opens Lower Band
Nigeria's regulator, the NCC, has moved to open the lower 6 GHz band (5925-6425 MHz) for license-exempt WLAN use, the spectrum foundation for Wi-Fi 6E. The framework is still a draft: it went through a public inquiry on 19-20 January 2026 ahead of final approval. Access is license-exempt but conditional, and every device must secure NCC type approval before importation, sale, or deployment. This guide covers the verified scope, certification impact, and the actions manufacturers should take now.

Vietnam IP Camera Cybersecurity Rule: QCVN 11:2026/BCA
On 12 May 2026, Vietnam's Ministry of Public Security issued Circular 48/2026/TT-BCA, introducing QCVN 11:2026/BCA — the national regulation setting baseline cybersecurity requirements for IP surveillance cameras. Effective 1 July 2026, it replaces QCVN 135:2024/BTTTT and moves oversight to the MPS. Manufacturers and importers face new rules on passwords, secure updates, vulnerabilities, and data protection, with conformity declaration due for medium- and high-risk units once the list is set.

Panama 6 GHz Band: ASEP Opens Public Forum
Panama's telecom regulator ASEP has opened Public Forum No. 01-26 to gather opinions on how the 6 GHz frequency band (5925-7125 MHz) should be used a decision it deferred in 2025 while adding new mid-band spectrum for 5G. The outcome will shape whether Wi-Fi, licensed mobile, or a split of both governs the band, with direct consequences for how wireless devices are certified and approved for the Panamanian market. Here's what equipment makers and compliance teams should track now.
