Product Certification and Compliance Requirements

  • Standards and Certification: Products must comply with relevant Cameroonian standards or internationally recognized equivalents. Certification may be mandatory depending on the product type.

  • Conformity Assessment Program (PECAE): Cameroon operates a pre-export verification program where certain regulated products must undergo conformity assessment in the country of origin before shipment. A Certificate of Conformity (CoC) is required for customs clearance.

  • Type Approval for Telecom Equipment: Telecommunications equipment must be type approved by ART. This ensures that the equipment meets technical standards and does not interfere with local networks.

  • Labeling Requirements: All products sold in Cameroon must be labeled in French or English. Labels must include product name, origin, manufacturer/importer information, net content, usage instructions, and production/expiration dates where applicable.

  • Market Surveillance: Authorities conduct inspections at borders and in the market to ensure that only compliant and safe products are sold. Non-compliant products may be confiscated or subject to penalties.
