1. Instituto de Gestão da Qualidade e da Propriedade Intelectual (IGQPI)
IGQPI is the national body responsible for developing and implementing Cabo Verdean standards, technical specifications, technical reports, guides, and technical agreements. It also coordinates national standardization activities, including sustainability standards in sectors like tourism.
2. Agência Reguladora Multissectorial da Economia (ARME)
ARME manages the conformity assessment process for telecommunications and electronic equipment. It issues conformity certificates based on European ETSI standards and CE Declarations of Conformity. These certificates have no expiration date, and approved equipment is not subject to additional labeling.
3. Agência Nacional de Segurança Alimentar (ANSA)
ANSA ensures the safety and quality of food products. It inspects both imported and locally produced food items, conducts risk assessments, and educates consumers and businesses on food safety practices. ANSA also aligns local food safety regulations with international standards.
4. Entidade Reguladora Independente da Saúde (ERIS)
ERIS regulates labeling requirements for pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and food sectors. Imported products must include information such as manufacturing date, expiration date, composition, trademark, and manufacturer's name—all provided in Portuguese.
Product Certification and Compliance Requirements
Standards Adoption: Cabo Verde adopts national standards, including technical specifications and guides, and recognizes regional and international normative documents.
Conformity Assessment: For telecom and electronic equipment, conformity assessment is required. This is typically supported by CE Declarations of Conformity, and certifications are indefinite unless revoked.
Food Safety Compliance: Food products are subject to inspection and risk assessment to ensure compliance with hygiene and safety requirements. Public education and stakeholder outreach are part of the compliance program.
Labeling Requirements: Products must carry Portuguese labels with key information such as product name, origin, weight, contents, usage instructions, manufacturing/expiry dates, and manufacturer identification.

Iraq CMC Type Approval: New QR Code Certificate Format
Iraq's Communications and Media Commission (CMC) has adopted a new type approval certificate format. The updated Iraq CMC type approval certificate now carries a QR code that lets customs officials, importers, and buyers verify authenticity, and it displays the product's key technical specifications directly on the certificate. The change is administrative: it improves verification but does not change testing scope or the obligation to obtain type approval before import or sale.

Egypt NTRA Mobile Phone Activation Compliance Rules
The Egypt NTRA mobile phone activation measure blocks new handsets that fail approved international standards—notably GSMA IMEI rules—from being switched on across Egyptian networks. Effective 1 February 2025 under Telecom Law No. 10 of 2003, it enforces existing type-approval duties at the network layer. For manufacturers and importers, valid IMEI/TAC allocation, NTRA type approval, and Digital Service Platform registration now decide whether a device activates, not just clears import.

Australia AS/CA S042 Standards: 2025 Update & AusAlert
The Australian Telecommunications Alliance (ATA), formerly Communications Alliance, revised the Australia AS/CA S042 standards, issuing 2025 editions of Parts 1, 4 and 5 in June 2025 and adding Amendment No. 1/2026, which renames the National Messaging System (NMS) as AusAlert. These air-interface standards cover addressable customer equipment on mobile and satellite networks and gain mandatory force through ACMA. This analysis sets out scope and the certification actions suppliers should take.

Japan 920 MHz WPT License-Free: MIC Opens Outdoor Use
Japan 920 MHz WPT license-free deployment moves closer as MIC advances its 920 MHz space-transmission wireless power transfer reform. The change lifts the indoor-only restriction to allow outdoor use within a premises and adds a new specified-low-power category, capped at 250 mW, that can run without an individual station licence. Licence-free is not certification-free: transmitters still need Giteki certification. Here is what manufacturers, importers and test labs should plan for.

Mauritius ICTA 5G Spectrum: 2300 & 2500 MHz Bands Opened
The Mauritius ICTA 5G spectrum landscape has shifted. On 4 June 2026 the Information and Communication Technologies Authority opened the 2300-2400 MHz band and freed additional spectrum in the 2500-2690 MHz band for IMT networks, including 5G. The decision repeals the 15 April 2026 instrument, limits eligibility to established 5G operators, sets TDD synchronised technical conditions, references specific ETSI standards, and signals a possible shift to auction-based spectrum awards.

NBTC RF Exposure Rules: Thailand Opens Consultation
Thailand's National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) has opened a public consultation on revising its standards, criteria and regulatory measures for human-health safety from radiocommunications equipment. The proposed changes target the NBTC RF exposure framework: the SAR and EMF limits, assessment methods and labelling that apply to body-proximate radio devices. This is a draft-stage measure, not an enacted rule; comments are open until 14 September 2026.
