1. Institut Algérien de Normalisation (IANOR)

IANOR serves as Algeria's national standards body, responsible for developing and implementing national standards across various sectors. It also manages the TEDJ certification mark, which indicates conformity with Algerian standards. 


2. Ministry of Commerce

This ministry oversees the enforcement of product compliance, particularly for imported goods. It mandates that all regulated products entering Algeria be accompanied by a Certificate of Conformity (Certificat de Contrôle de Qualité des Marchandises), ensuring they meet the country's technical regulations and standards. 


3. Ministry of Health, Population, and Hospital Reform

The ministry regulates pharmaceuticals and medical devices through its Directorate of Pharmacy and Health Equipment. Importers must obtain authorization to import and sell drugs, which must have been marketed in their country of origin and a third country before importation into Algeria. 


4. Ministry of Agriculture

This ministry is responsible for the sanitary and phytosanitary control of food and agricultural products. It requires certificates such as phytosanitary certificates for plant products and sanitary veterinary certificates for animal products. 


5. Agence Nationale des Fréquences (ANF) / Autorité de Régulation de la Posteet des Communications Électroniques (ARPCE)

These agencies regulate telecommunications and electronic communications equipment. They require type approval for such devices to ensure compliance with national standards.


Product Certification and Compliance Requirements

To import regulated products into Algeria, exporters must obtain a Certificate of Conformity issued by an authorized inspection and certification body, this certificate confirms that the products comply with Algerian technical regulations and standards. 

The certification process typically involves:

  • Documentary checks

  • Laboratory testing

  • Physical inspection of goods

The Certificate of Conformity is valid for a single shipment and must be presented to Algerian customs authorities for clearance.
