Indonesia SAR SUKET Removal: New Certification Process

Indonesia has introduced an important change to its certification process for wireless devices. The Directorate General of Digital Infrastructure (DJID) has confirmed the Indonesia SAR SUKET removal, meaning SAR declaration letters can no longer be used starting April 1, 2026. Manufacturers must now complete SAR testing before applying for certification, making the process more structured and controlled.

Indonesia SAR SUKET Removal: What Changed

The Indonesia SAR SUKET removal introduces a significant change in how certification is handled. Manufacturers are now required to obtain a full SAR test report from a local Indonesian laboratory before submitting their application. This removes the previous flexibility where companies could proceed using a declaration letter while testing was still ongoing.

What was the rule before?

Previously, manufacturers could submit a SAR declaration letter (SUKET) to indicate compliance while waiting for testing to be completed. This allowed certification and testing to happen in parallel, helping companies reduce time to market and manage product launches more efficiently.

Why it matters

This update makes the certification process more sequential and time-consuming. Since SAR testing must now be completed first, manufacturers may face longer timelines. In addition, testing capacity is limited, as only one official laboratory in Indonesia currently performs SAR testing, and timelines depend on the testing queue. This can result in delays of around two months or more.

What manufacturers should do

Manufacturers should adjust their planning and certification strategy accordingly. It is important to schedule SAR testing as early as possible, ensure all documentation is ready in advance, and coordinate closely with laboratories and local partners. Early preparation will help reduce delays and ensure smoother market entry.
