South Korea: RRA Consults on IP Camera Technical Standards
South Korea's National Radio Research Agency (RRA) has opened a public consultation on a partial amendment to the Technical Standards for Terminal Devices. The proposal refines which IP-based video surveillance devices fall within scope and explores exempting cameras from tests that duplicate existing information security certifications. Uruguay Analog Switch-Off: VHF TV Ends Nationwide Under Decree 217/026
Uruguay has completed its analog switch-off. Under Decree No. 217/026, analog television broadcasts in the VHF band ended nationwide at 23:59 on September 25, 2026, with the sole exception of Bella Unión, where analog service may continue until commercial digital coverage is confirmed, no later than July 31, 2029. Canada SRSP-517 Issue 3: ISED Consults on 2500–2690 MHz BRS
Canada's ISED has opened a public consultation on SRSP-517 Issue 3, the Standard Radio System Plan setting the minimum technical requirements for Broadband Radio Service in the 2500–2690 MHz band. The draft follows ISED's September 2026 decision to move the band to an unpaired TDD plan of 38 blocks of 5 MHz, and runs alongside the RSS-199 Issue 5 consultation. Japan 433 MHz TPMS & Keyless Entry Band Expansion (MIC 2026)
Japan's Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has amended the Radio Equipment Regulations, expanding the 433 MHz band for tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS) and remote keyless entry (RKE) from 433.795–434.045 MHz to 433.05–434.79 MHz, effective July 24, 2026. RED Guide 2026: EU Updates Radio Equipment Directive Guidance
The European Commission has published the RED Guide 2026, a 95-page update to its guidance on the Radio Equipment Directive 2014/53/EU, replacing the 2017 and 2018 editions. The new version adds guidance on cybersecurity and the Cyber Resilience Act transition, Common Charger rules, EU economic operator duties, software updates and multimode equipment, and tightens expectations on risk assessment, technical files, CE marking and RF power declarations.

Taiwan Camera Inspection: BSMI Concealed Camera Rules
Taiwan camera inspection rules now cover concealed cameras without storage. Since October 2, 2026, the BSMI requires these miniature cameras and camera modules to pass mandatory inspection through Registration of Product Certification or Type-Approved Batch Inspection before import or factory release. Products must meet EMC, safety, RoHS and, where network-capable, cybersecurity standards, and carry a privacy warning on packaging and manuals.
