1. Cyprus Organization for Standardization (CYS)
CYS is the national standardization body responsible for adopting and promoting European and international standards in Cyprus. It provides guidance to industries on technical compliance.
2. Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry
This ministry enforces product safety laws, coordinates technical regulations, oversees market surveillance, and supports the implementation of CE marking and conformity assessment procedures.
3. State General Laboratory
Part of the Ministry of Health, the State General Laboratory performs testing and chemical analysis of food, cosmetics, and other consumer goods to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
4. Department of Electrical and Mechanical Services (EMS)

Product Certification and Compliance Requirements
CE Marking: Products within the scope of EU New Approach Directives (e.g. machinery, toys, medical devices, electronics) must bear the CE mark. This indicates conformity with essential safety and performance requirements.
Conformity Assessment: Depending on the product, conformity assessment may involve internal production control, third-party certification, or testing by a notified body.
Labeling Requirements: Products must be labeled in Greek and/or English. Labels must clearly state the product name, manufacturer/importer details, usage instructions, safety warnings, batch numbers, and expiration dates where applicable.
Product Registration: Certain regulated goods—such as cosmetics, biocides, food supplements, and pharmaceuticals—must be registered with the appropriate national authority before sale.
Market Surveillance: Authorities carry out inspections, testing, and enforcement actions to ensure that products on the market meet applicable safety and technical requirements.
Environmental Compliance: Products such as electronics, batteries, packaging, and vehicles must comply with environmental regulations related to waste, emissions, and hazardous substances.
